#16: New Year, New You? What things do you need to let go of? What would have to happen in 2021?

Get a warm cup of coffee or tea and sit down with a notebook. Settle in somewhere quiet and let's decide what kind of year it's going to be. If you don't have a vision of how you want your year to go, it will happen to you, not for you. Take 12 minutes to connect with yourself and make this year amazing.

  1. Sit down and take a deep breath. Imagine yourself a year from now. What would need to happen for you to look back on 2021 and say, “Wow! This was an amazing year!”?

  2. Break your vision into categories: family, relationships, career, finances, home, etc

  3. Pick words to describe how you want to feel in each category.

  4. Pick three top words for how you’d like to feel this year. Put them all over the place (mirror, desk, phone). These three words will drive your decisions for the year.

  5. Write down what’s not working for you in each category

  6. Now, write down your dream for each category. No limits, just write what’s in your heart.

  7. Don’t worry about the “how”. This isn’t up to you and will vastly limit your dreams.

  8. Write down the excuses that pop into your head. Write them in red. These are your limiting beliefs. You’ll need to recognize them and flip them around to their opposites. At first, you won’t believe the statements, but if you keep telling your subconscious this is the new reality, eventually it will be.

  9. Reverse engineer. Make up tiny baby steps to get you towards your goals for each category. If you can’t come up with any steps, pretend your bestie is asking you to help her brainstorm this problem.

  10. Look at your list and words at least once a month. You will be shocked a year from now. Every year I still surprise myself when I look back over my year and see how many of the things became a reality.
